What do cybersecurity workers prefer-a degree or certifications?
While a certificate is cheaper than a degree in cybersecurity, it takes longer and costs more. The degree provides a broad range of understanding that can be applied to many different industries but has fewer hands-on skills.
Employers want to see that you have the right certification. You must also meet a legal requirement (see above). This is why 70% of cybersecurity workers believe that certifications are essential for their professional development. Only 10% of respondents said they had a bachelor’s or master’s degree, while 5% said they had a combination.

How can I get trained in just 5 weeks?
Our Cyber Security IT Professional program is designed to do just that. The curriculum and hands-on labs are developed by Microsoft and the Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) – globally recognized industry representatives.
How Can I Get Hired in Cybersecurity Even Without a Degree?
CompTIA Network+ and CompTIA Security+ are the most important certifications you need if you are brand new to cybersecurity. This is because of a less-known government regulation, DOD-8570. Technically, it has been updated by DOD-8140 but still uses the DOD-8570 chart. You must hold at least one certification if you’re in a situation where sensitive government data might be available to you. CompTIA Security+ usually is the minimum certification required. Even companies that do not work with government agencies are required to obtain this certification. These certifications will make you highly sought-after and should not be a problem to get placed.
