Why Should I Go Into A Cybersecurity Career?
Over the past six years, the number of cybersecurity jobs has risen by 94%. Cybersecurity is a fast-growing industry that offers many career opportunities. Cyberseek says there are almost 500k job openings. What do cybersecurity workers prefer-a degree or certifications?
The cost of a cybersecurity degree is higher than a certification, and it takes more time. The degree is more general and can be applied to many industries. However, it requires less practical skills.
You can demonstrate that you have the skill an employer is looking for by getting the right certification. You must also meet a legal requirement (see above). This is why 70% of cybersecurity workers believe that certifications are essential for their professional development. Only 10% of respondents said they had a bachelor’s or master’s degree, while 5% said they had a combination.

How can I get hired in Cybersecurity without a degree?
CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, are the most essential certifications you will need if your new to cybersecurity. This is because of a less-known government regulation, DOD-8570. Technically, it has been updated by DOD-8140 but still uses the DOD-8570 chart. You must hold at least one certification if you’re in a situation where sensitive government data might be available to you. CompTIA Security+ is usually the minimum required. This certification is required by even companies that are not going to work with the government. These certifications are highly desirable and will help you to be placed.
