Is Cybersecurity a Good Career?
In the last six years, cybersecurity jobs have seen a 94% increase. If you’re looking for a career in cybersecurity, now is the right time. Cybersecurity is a growing industry with a lot of different jobs that offer ample opportunity for career growth. Cyberseek estimates that there are nearly 500,000 job opportunities. In the Tampa / St.Petersburg / Clearwater job market, for instance, there are over 6,000 job openings. This means that cybersecurity professionals need to be available at all times.
Which should you get for cybersecurity-A degree or Certifications?
While a certificate is cheaper than a degree in cybersecurity, it takes longer and costs more. Although the degree gives you a broad understanding that can be used in many industries, it does not have as many hands-on skills.
You can demonstrate that you have the skill an employer is looking for by getting the right certification. Also, there is a legal requirement (see above). Because of all this, according to a recent Information Week’s, Dark Reading salary survey, 70% of workers in cybersecurity said certifications were the most important training in developing their career. Only 10% said they had a bachelor’s and 5% said that they had a master’s.

The average salary of cybersecurity professionals in the United States was $112,974 on February 20, 2021. The average cybersecurity salary ranges from $65,000 (25th%) up to $145,000. (75th%) Entry-level jobs typically offer lower salaries, but great work opportunities and greater responsibility.

How can I get a job in Cybersecurity without a degree
CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, are the most essential certifications you will need if your new to cybersecurity. This is why: The DOD-8570 regulation is a lesser-known government regulation. Technically, it has been updated by DOD-8140 but still uses the DOD-8570 chart. It states that if you are in a position where you might be exposed to sensitive government data, then you must have at least one of the certifications they have listed for that position. CompTIA Security+ is the minimum requirement. This certification is requested by companies even if they will not work for the government. If you get these certifications, the demand for your skills is very strong and you should have no problem getting placed.
