Why Should I Go Into A Cybersecurity Career?
In the last six years, cybersecurity jobs have seen a 94% increase. If you are looking for a career with a high degree of flexibility and change, then cybersecurity is the right career choice. Cybersecurity is an expanding industry that offers many different job opportunities and great career prospects. Cyberseek estimates that there are nearly 500,000 job opportunities. Which should you get for cybersecurity-A degree or Certifications?
The cost of a cybersecurity degree is higher than a certification, and it takes more time. The degree is more general and can be applied to many industries. However, it requires less practical skills.
The right certification demonstrates that you have a specific skill the employer wants. You must also meet a legal requirement (see above). Because of all this, according to a recent Information Week’s, Dark Reading salary survey, 70% of workers in cybersecurity said certifications were the most important training in developing their career. Only 10% said they have a bachelor’s degree while 5% said they have a master’s degree.

How can I get hired in Cybersecurity without a degree?
CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, are the most essential certifications you will need if your new to cybersecurity. This is because of a less-known government regulation, DOD-8570. Although technically it has been updated as DOD-8140, the chart used the DOD-8570 old format. The document states that you need to have at least one certification if you are in a job that could expose you to sensitive data. CompTIA Security+ usually is the minimum certification required. This certification is required by even companies that are not going to work with the government. These certifications will make you highly sought-after and should not be a problem to get placed.
