Cybersecurity is a growing industry with a lot of different jobs that offer ample opportunity for career growth. Cyberseek claims that there are over 500,000 job openings. Over 6,000 job openings are available in Tampa/ St.Petersburg/ Clearwater, for instance. Cybersecurity professionals are always in high demand.
Which should you get for cybersecurity-A degree or Certifications?
The cost of a cybersecurity degree is higher than a certification, and it takes more time. Although the degree gives you a broad understanding that can be used in many industries, it does not have as many hands-on skills.
A certification shows that you are able to demonstrate the skills employers require. You must also meet a legal requirement (see above). Because of all this, according to a recent Information Week’s, Dark Reading salary survey, 70% of workers in cybersecurity said certifications were the most important training in developing their career. Only 10% said they have a bachelor’s degree while 5% said they have a master’s degree.
What is the Average Income in Cybersecurity?
The average salary of cybersecurity professionals was $112974 in the United States on February 20, 2021. The average cybersecurity salaries are between $65,000 (25th%) and $145,000. (75th%) Entry-level jobs typically offer lower salaries, but great work opportunities and greater responsibility.
How can I get trained in just 5 weeks?
Microsoft and CompTIA, internationally recognized industry leaders, created the Cyber Security IT Practitioner program curriculum and hands-on labs and is designed to be able to be completed in five weeks (or ten weeks if you choose evening classes).
How Can I Get Hired in Cybersecurity Even Without a Degree?
CompTIA Network+ and CompTIA Security+ are the most important certifications you need if you are brand new to cybersecurity. This is why: The DOD-8570 regulation is a lesser-known government regulation. Although technically it has been updated as DOD-8140, the chart used the DOD-8570 old format. The document states that you need to have at least one certification if you are in a job that could expose you to sensitive data. CompTIA Security+ is the minimum requirement. Even companies that will never work with the government are asking for this certification. These certifications will make you highly sought-after and should not be a problem to get placed.
