Is Cybersecurity a Good Career?
The number of cybersecurity jobs increased by 94% in the last six years. If you’re interested in a career that is always changing and evolving, the perfect time is now to pursue a career in cybersecurity. Cybersecurity is a growing industry with a lot of different jobs that offer ample opportunity for career growth. Cyberseek estimates that there are nearly 500,000 job opportunities. Over 6,000 job openings are available in Tampa/ St.Petersburg/ Clearwater, for instance. These numbers indicate that cybersecurity professionals must always be in demand.
Degree vs Certifications
The cost of a cybersecurity degree is higher than a certification, and it takes more time. The degree provides a broad range of understanding that can be applied to many different industries but has fewer hands-on skills.
A certification shows that you are able to demonstrate the skills employers require. There is also a legal requirement (see above). This is why 70% of cybersecurity workers believe that certifications are essential for their professional development. Only 10% of respondents said they had a bachelor’s or master’s degree, while 5% said they had a combination.
What is the Average Salary in Cybersecurity?
The average salary of cybersecurity professionals in the United States was $112,974 on February 20, 2021. The average cybersecurity salary ranges from $65,000 (25th%) up to $145,000. (75th%) Entry-level jobs typically offer lower salaries, but great work opportunities and greater responsibility.
How can I get trained in just five weeks?
Our Cyber Security IT Professional program is designed to do just that. The curriculum and hands-on labs are developed by Microsoft and the Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) – globally recognized industry representatives.
How Can I Get Hired in Cybersecurity Even Without a Degree?
CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, are the most essential certifications you will need if your new to cybersecurity. This is because of a less-known government regulation, DOD-8570. (Technically, it has been updated to DOD-8140, but that uses the old DOD-8570 chart). You need at least one of these certifications if your position might expose you to sensitive government information. CompTIA Security+ usually is the minimum certification required. Even companies that do not work with government agencies are required to obtain this certification. These certifications will make you highly sought-after and should not be a problem to get placed.
