Is Cybersecurity a Good Career?
Over the past six years, cybersecurity jobs have increased by 94%. If you’re interested in a career that is always changing and evolving, the perfect time is now to pursue a career in cybersecurity. Cybersecurity is an expanding industry that offers many different job opportunities and great career prospects. Cyberseek reports that there are almost 500,000 job positions. There are more than 6,000 job opportunities in the Tampa / St.Petersburg/ Clearwater area, for example. This means that cybersecurity professionals need to be available at all times.
Degree vs Certifications
While a certificate is cheaper than a degree in cybersecurity, it takes longer and costs more. The degree is more general and can be applied to many industries. However, it requires less practical skills.
A certification shows that you are able to demonstrate the skills employers require. You must also meet a legal requirement (see above). All this is why, according to the recent Information Week Dark Reading salary survey 70% of cybersecurity workers said that certifications were their most important training. Only 10% of respondents said they had a bachelor’s or master’s degree, while 5% said they had a combination.
How Much Can I Make In A Cybersecurity Career?
On February 20, 2019, the average salary for cybersecurity professionals was $112974 in the United States. The average cybersecurity salaries are between $65,000 (25th%) and $145,000. (75th%) Entry-level jobs typically offer lower salaries, but great work opportunities and greater responsibility.
How can I get trained in just five weeks?
Microsoft and the Computing Technology Industry Association are globally respected industry leaders. The Cyber Security IT Pro program curriculum and hands on labs were developed by Microsoft and CompTIA and is designed to be able to be completed in five weeks (or ten weeks if you choose evening classes).
How can I get hired in Cybersecurity without a degree?
CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, are the most essential certifications you will need if your new to cybersecurity. Here is why: There is a little-known government regulation called DOD-8570. It has been technically updated to DOD-8140. However, it still uses the DOD-8570 chart. It states that if you are in a position where you might be exposed to sensitive government data, then you must have at least one of the certifications they have listed for that position. CompTIA Security+ is usually the minimum required. Even companies that will never work with the government are asking for this certification. You should be able to get a job if you have these certifications.
