Why Should I Train For Cybersecurity?
The number of cybersecurity jobs has increased by 94% over the last six years. You have the perfect time to get a career in cybersecurity if you are looking for a career that is always evolving and changing. Cybersecurity is a growing industry with a lot of different jobs that offer ample opportunity for career growth. Cyberseek reports that there are almost 500,000 job positions. Over 6,000 job openings are available in Tampa/ St.Petersburg/ Clearwater, for instance. This means cybersecurity professionals will always be in high demand.
Degree vs Certifications
A cybersecurity degree costs more than a certification and takes longer. The degree provides a broad range of understanding that can be applied to many different industries but has fewer hands-on skills.
You can demonstrate that you have the skill an employer is looking for by getting the right certification. Also, there is a legal requirement (see above). All this is why, according to the recent Information Week Dark Reading salary survey 70% of cybersecurity workers said that certifications were their most important training. Only 10% said they have a bachelor’s degree while 5% said they have a master’s degree.

Can I really finish the training in 5 weeks?
Microsoft and CompTIA, internationally recognized industry leaders, created the Cyber Security IT Practitioner program curriculum and hands-on labs and is designed to be able to be completed in five weeks (or ten weeks if you choose evening classes).
How can I get hired as a Cybersecurity professional without a degree?
CompTIA Network+ and CompTIA Security+ are the most important certifications you need if you are brand new to cybersecurity. Here’s why: A little-known regulation by the government is DOD-8570. Although technically it has been updated as DOD-8140, the chart used the DOD-8570 old format. It states that if you are in a position where you might be exposed to sensitive government data, then you must have at least one of the certifications they have listed for that position. Typically the minimum asked for is CompTIA Security+. Even companies that will never work with the government are asking for this certification. If you get these certifications, the demand for your skills is very strong and you should have no problem getting placed.
