The cost of a cybersecurity degree is higher than a certification, and it takes more time. The degree is more general and can be applied to many industries. However, it requires less practical skills.

It has been technically updated to DOD-8140. However, it still uses the DOD-8570 chart. You need at least one of these certifications if your position might expose you to sensitive government information. Typically the minimum asked for is CompTIA Security+. This certification is requested by companies even if they will not work for the government. These certifications are highly desirable and will help you to be placed.
