Why Cybersecurity?
Over the past six years, cybersecurity jobs have increased by 94%. You have the perfect time to get a career in cybersecurity if you are looking for a career that is always evolving and changing. Cybersecurity is an expanding industry that offers many different job opportunities and great career prospects. According to Cyberseek, there are almost 500,000 job openings. For example, the Tampa / St.Petersburg/ Clearwater job market has over 6,000 open positions. These numbers indicate that cybersecurity professionals must always be in demand.
Degree vs Certifications
While a certificate is cheaper than a degree in cybersecurity, it takes longer and costs more. The degree provides a broad range of understanding that can be applied to many different industries but has fewer hands-on skills.
A certification shows that you are able to demonstrate the skills employers require. There is also a legal requirement (see above). Because of all this, according to a recent Information Week’s, Dark Reading salary survey, 70% of workers in cybersecurity said certifications were the most important training in developing their career. only 10% said a bachelor’s degree and 5% said a master’s degree.
What is the Average Salary in Cybersecurity?
On February 20, 2021, the average cybersecurity professional salary in America was $112974. The average cybersecurity salary ranges from $65,000 (25th%) up to $145,000. (75th%) Entry-level roles typically have lower wages but offer more opportunities for growth and responsibility.
How can I finish the training in just five weeks?
Microsoft and the Computing Technology Industry Association are globally respected industry leaders. The Cyber Security IT Pro program curriculum and hands on labs were developed by Microsoft and CompTIA and is designed to be able to be completed in five weeks (or ten weeks if you choose evening classes).
How can I get hired as a Cybersecurity professional without a degree?
CompTIA Network+ and CompTIA Security+ are the most important certifications you need if you are brand new to cybersecurity. Here is why: There is a little-known government regulation called DOD-8570. Technically, it has been updated by DOD-8140 but still uses the DOD-8570 chart. You must hold at least one certification if you’re in a situation where sensitive government data might be available to you. Typically the minimum asked for is CompTIA Security+. This certification is required by even companies that are not going to work with the government. If you get these certifications, the demand for your skills is very strong and you should have no problem getting placed.
